Experienced Triathlon and Endurance Coach
Welcome to Comeragh Coaching! My name is Michael Scully, and my passion for triathlon coaching stems from 14 years of triathlon experience and a growing desire to help others achieve their personal best. Based amidst the stunning landscapes of the Comeragh Mountains, but using remote training software, I coach triathletes all over Ireland, offering constant feedback and advice.
After competing in triathlons from sprint to Ironman distance and witnessing firsthand the transformative power of consistent, dedicated training, I realized I wanted to share my knowledge and experiences with others. I was drawn to coaching as I saw the impact my coaching philosophy and support could have on an athlete's journey.
At Comeragh Coaching, I combine my extensive experience as an athlete with a holistic coaching approach to empower individuals to reach their peak performance. My goal is to create a supportive and motivating environment where every athlete can thrive, regardless of their starting point. I am committed to helping you unlock your potential, overcome challenges, and celebrate every milestone on your path to success.
Join me at Comeragh Coaching, and let's embark on this incredible journey together!
Michael's triathlon journey started in 2010 at the local Carrick on Suir triathlon and despite needing to soak in the bath for an hour after it (no ice baths back then!!) he was truly hooked on the sport.
Over the coming years, he increased the distances he raced, taking on his first 70.3 at Ireland Galway 70.3 in 2012.
The following year he completed Ironman Zurich in just over 10 hours and represneted Ireland at the Long Course World Championships in France and it was here realized he could potentially be a competitive Age Grouper in the sport.
It was at this point began working under coach Matt Fitzgerald and which over the next 4 years saw him qualify for and race the Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Zell am See, Austria in 2015 and the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii in 2018.
Michael decided to go self coached in 2019 which saw him go under the 9hr mark for the Ironman distance at Ironman Florida and again qualify for the Ironman World Championships in Kona which he eventually got to race in 2022 where he was the fastest Irish finished in just over 9hr 20 mins.
Michael recently focused on the 70.3 again where he posted a 4.11 time , coming second in his AG at Ironman 70.3 Venice.
